Eldercraft

Community Guidelines

Eldercraft works because people treat each other with respect across generations, cultures and abilities. These are the behaviours we expect from everyone, in plain words.

Be honest

Represent your skills, identity and experience accurately. Don't claim credentials you don't hold. Don't use someone else's photo.

Be respectful

Ageism, sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism and religious prejudice have no place here. Disagreements happen — handle them like adults.

Be patient

Many mentors are new to platforms like this. Many seekers are new to the trades they're learning. Assume good faith, repeat yourself kindly, and don't rush people.

Be careful with cultural knowledge

Some skills carry cultural responsibilities — particularly Māori, Pasifika and other indigenous knowledge. Ask before you teach it, ask before you share it, and respect the answer.

Money stays between you

Eldercraft does not handle payments. Any fees, invoices, or contract terms are agreed directly between mentor and seeker. We will never ask you to send money through Eldercraft, and we will warn both sides if we see pressure tactics, scam patterns, or requests for bank details, gift cards, or remote access to your computer.

Keep introductions on the platform until you're ready

Use Eldercraft messaging for first contact. Once you've both decided to work together, you can exchange direct contact details — your choice.

What happens if these are broken

Minor first offences get a warning and a conversation. Serious or repeated breaches result in suspension or permanent removal, and may be reported to relevant authorities. See the Safeguarding Policy for how to report a concern.
