Privacy Policy
Eldercraft is operated by Insight AI Systems Limited (NZBN 9429050329304), West Melton, Christchurch, New Zealand. We comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy is written in plain English on purpose.
What we collect
- Account information — name, email, password (hashed), phone, region, preferred language.
- Profile information — biography, skills, photo, references, work history, availability.
- Verification information — ID documents (held by our third-party verifier, not by us), reference responses, credentials.
- Engagement records — messages exchanged through the platform, introductions made, ratings.
- Technical data — IP address, device, browser, accessibility preferences (font size, contrast palette).
Eldercraft does not process or hold money between mentors and seekers, so we do not collect bank account numbers, full card details, or payment instructions. Any fees are arranged directly between the two parties.
Why we collect it
- To run your account and the introductions you request.
- To verify identity and protect everyone on the platform.
- To meet legal obligations (privacy law, safeguarding, lawful requests from authorities).
- To improve the service — measured in aggregate, never sold.
Who we share it with
We only share personal data with:
- Service providers we have contracted: Supabase (hosting and database), Resend (email), ID verification provider, and customer-support tooling.
- The other party in an engagement — only after both sides have agreed to connect.
- Authorities — when required by law, court order, or to protect someone from serious harm.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use it to train third-party AI models.
Where it lives
Personal data is stored in databases hosted in Australia and the United States, with backups encrypted at rest. ID verification documents are held by our verifier and deleted after the check is complete.
How long we keep it
- Active accounts: for as long as you use the service.
- Closed accounts: 24 months, then anonymised.
- Verification documents: deleted by our verifier within 30 days of the check.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- See the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Download a copy of your data.
- Close your account and request deletion (subject to legal retention).
- Complain to us, and if you're not satisfied, to the NZ Privacy Commissioner or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Cookies and tracking
We use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your accessibility preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.
Children
Eldercraft is not for children under 13. Seekers aged 13–17 must use the platform through a school, guild or parent/guardian account.
